A Message from NEOPA's Current President...
Robert Collier said “Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out.” This was going to be my theme, but over the last few weeks I’ve decided to change my mind. It will still deal with success, but it will deal with the members. My theme for the upcoming year will be – THE KEY TO SUCCESS IS YOU! It takes each member of NEOPA to make our organization a successful organization.
Each one of us needs to try to have the support of our supervisors. By doing this it will make it possible for us to attend workshops, conferences and to better ourselves. Carl – I want to personally thank you for supporting me in my efforts to better myself professionally and personally. You’ve always encouraged me, whether it be to attend workshops or conferences. And you’ve even thought it was a good idea for me to run for an office (pause) or two.
Having our family’s support makes it a little easier to want to become involved. I want to thank my mom and dad and my husband for always being there for me, to give me that little extra push I need to try something new. Knowing they’ll be there for me helps me be who I am.
As your President this next year my goal is to have NEOPA be a successful organization. In order to make this happen I ask that each of you renew your membership, try to recruit at least one new member. Be an active member – volunteer to be on a committee, attend as many workshops and conferences that you can. The board of directors is here to support and encourage you to better yourselves – personally and professionally.
Dr. Albert Schweitzer, Medical Missionary and Nobel Peace Prize Winner, said, “Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful.” I am fortunate – I love what I do. I enjoy my job at the University Nebraska-Lincoln working in the Inventory department. I enjoyed leading my local organization – UNOPA and I look forward to being the President of our state organization – NEOPA.
Remember there are many things that make an organization successful, but the key to making NEOPA a successful organization in 2008/2009 is you!
